ATTACK OF THE BASEBALL CARDS and owner Steve Mandy were the subject of a feature article that appeared in Sports Collectors Daily on January 2, 2022. In the article by columnist and longtime store owner Michael Fruitman, Attack owner Steve Mandy was named the Store Owner of the Year 2021. Speaking of Mandy, Fruitman wrote, “He loves to bring attention to the positive sports happenings and cares about those in his community.”

ATTACK OF THE BASEBALL CARDS was one of only a handful of businesses invited to have a card/memorabilia booth at the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The draft, took place on Sunday, June 30, 2013 and was attended by both Panini & Upper Deck. ATTACK was given limited edition cards from both companies to distribute at the event.
Attack of the Baseball Cards has been a participating store in the Panini NFL Player of the Day Contest since it's inception in 2000. Attack's customer, Frank Rosato was selected as the 2012 National Grand Prize Winner, it was announced on Super Bowl Sunday 2013. Read more about this prize on the Contests & Specials Page.
In October 2004, Attack was honored by the NFL and it's Player of the Day Program, with a free in-store autograph signing session with NY Giants Wide Receiver Tim Carter. In October 2005 the NFL and the Player of the Day Program honored Attack for a second year with a free in-store signing by NY Giants Linebacker Antonio Pierce!
In July 2008, Attack was selected by Upper Deck & MLB as one of only 5 Official Baseball Card Headquarters Stores for the All-Star Baseball Game at Yankee Stadium! A Topps HTA Store, Runner-Up for Skybox/Fleer's National Hobby Store of the Year Award in 1998, winner of theUpper Deck Hobby Program in November 2001, the store was the host of a free in-store autograph signing session with Baseball Hall of Famer, Gary Carter. Attack was a winner of theTopps Retailer Scholarship Award in January 2002, named the "National HOBBY STORE OF THE MONTH" in September 2010 by Upper Deck, in November 2005 was named one of only ten official Topps Headquarter Store(s) in the nation and the only one in New Jersey! Attack has been a progressive store in area of programs for children. The "Summer Student Essay Contest",become a staple program at Attack foe a twenty year period starting in 1992. Larry Jordan of Upper Deck (brother of Michael Jordan) served as judge for the 2008 contest. Attack of the Baseball Cards, was honored by the Township of Union, when the store was selected as the Business of the Month (April, 2007), by the township. Attack was the first store in the state of New Jersey to host a Pack Wars Contest. When speaking of the dealer interaction during Pack Wars, Keith Gentile of PlayPackAttack.com said, "Mandy is the best I've ever seen...it's no wonder this store has garnered national acclaim". Attack of the Baseball Cards was an official store for2004 National Trading Card Day and on April 3, 2005 celebrated the first anniversary of NTCD with SPORTSCARD DAY. Sponsored by all the major card companies, free sample cards were handed out all day!
On Saturday, June 17, 2006, Attack of the Baseball Cards was a participating store for the first ever, NATIONAL BASEBALL CARD DAY. Attacke was an Official Sponsor of the 2004 Newark Bears Baseball Club. Each winter ATTACK is an Official Location for Upper Deck National Hockey Card Day. ATTACK is a participating store in GTS Distribution's National Hobby Shop Day each December.
